Susan Piersa, M.S./CCC-SLP
Education
Susan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences in 2015 and her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2017, both from Boston University.
She is trained in PROMPT, PECS, and the NLA (Natural Language Acquisition) framework for gestalt language processors. As a three-time recipient of the ASHA ACE (Award for Continuing Education), she continuously strives to keep up to date with evidence-based practices and further her knowledge in the field of speech-language pathology.
Experience
After working in a public preschool program in Massachusetts for over 5 years, she returned to her home in New Jersey to work in a private day school for students with disabilities. Through both positions she has gained experience working with children with a variety of communication needs, including articulation & phonological disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, receptive-expressive language disorders, autism, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, cerebral palsy, and the medically fragile population. In her practice with children with complex communication needs, she has helped children find their voices through numerous AAC applications, including LAMP, TouchChat, Proloquo2Go, GoTalkNow+, and SpeakForYourself. Susan also has experience working in Early Intervention (0-3) and with the adult population.
Susan is certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, and maintains licensures for the states of Massachusetts and New Jersey. She also has certification from the New Jersey Department of Education as a Speech-Language Specialist.
In her spare time Susan enjoys reading, trying out new vegetarian recipes, fitness, and spending time with family and friends.
